I read this book and thought that it realted well with psychology.  Its about the judgements we make about people, things, and situations in very few seconds (in the blink of an eye).  The book talks about a psychologist that can tell if a couple will last or not, just by listening to a conversation.  It relates how the brain works in how we make decisions.

I actually am reading Blink in my capstone class, Social Issues, right now. Malcolm Gladwell, the author of Blink definitely gives awesome examples of how snap judgements can be made in a blink of an eye and how they can either be rewarding, or devistating.. The example you gave above with the psychologist that can tell if a couple will last or not was very interesting is definitely very rewarding to someone in a blink situation. But, Blink also talks about how in just a blink of an eye and without thinking four cops can shoot a young man, who did not have a gun on him and was just reaching in for his wallet, 41 times in just seconds. Those cops obviously did not think, and made snap judgements in a blink of an eye and it ended up killing an inicent young man.

There is another book called Think: Why Crucial Decisions Can't Be Made in the Blink of an Eye. The author of this book is pretty much saying that in every situation you can THINK, and not just BLINK. You need to think about every thing you do before doing it or before saying it. He somewhat bashes on Blink, in away that does get you thinking.

Reading both these books for my capstone have really got me thinking of my own situations. Sometimes I do jump to things and not think, or say things and not think. But there are other situations where I realy do need to think before I blink.

Are you a person who Blinks in situations, or do you Think in situations?
