I thought the first day of trial went well. Both sides presented their opening statements very well. I thought both sides were very professional. I thought the questioning went good and the people testifying did a good job. Me being a detective though, I did get kinda angry at the defense at times about some of their questions and what not. That was my first time being in a courtroom setting, so it was kind of exciting to see how everything happens. I thought the jury selection was interesting too. I didnt know the prosecution and defense just asked questions in front of everybody. But overall my experience was good and I look forward to seeing how the trial plays out.

I felt that the first day at court was very interesting. I felt that it went really well. I personally felt important in a sense, it really felt real. It was an interesting feeling when us jurors were being questioned, I was nervous in a sense.I did not know that jurors were questioned about their beliefs before the case started. I also didn't know that they did it in front of everyone at the courthouse. I thought it would have been before the case actually started. I was amazed at how well both sides presented the case. Both ladies did a good job, they acted very professional and really made their points clear. I can't wait to see how the rest plays out and am looking forward to more!

I have to say I was quite impressed with how the first day went. I believe they all played their parts very well and it really did feel quite realistic to me. The prosecuting attorney seemed very into their role and you could see it in her walk and her expressions. She also seemed to be very prepared and knew what she was doing up there. The defense also seemed very focused and is doing a good job of trying to protect her defendant. So far I am greatly enjoying this trial because it is a "real life" example of what a real trial is like compared to what is often portrayed on t.v. One thing that definitely took me by surprise was the way the jurors were handled. They were so put out there for everyone to see. I also assumed this was done in a more personal setting. The feeling of the courtroom was real and the judge carried himself in a very respectful manner. I am very excited to see how things go over the next couple trial dates.

The first day of court was pretty interesting. However, I will admit to being confused when the prosecutor said that the stab wound was in the abdomen but the CSI tech said the stab wound was in the leg. I can only imagine how the jury must feel after trying to take all of that in. I have to testify tomorrow, so that will be a different experience than just being a spectator. But from being a sectator, it was fun (and entertaining). I look forward to tomorrow-after I've been dismissed. :)

I thought the first day of court was awesome, this has been what I've been waiting for all semester. I thought day 1 would just consist of jury selection and was glad that we proceeded into opening statements and prosecution questioning. I was really surprised with how professional everything went (not that I had any doubts!) and the visual aesthetics of the room definitely added to the ambiance.

Everyone has been really tight-lipped about what's been going on throughout the investigation. Being on the media team, I learned a lot of facts about the case when the general public did.

The prosecution did an excellent job questioning witnesses and it was neat to see the defense object :D Can't wait to see how the trial progresses!

The first day of court was exciting! Everything seemed very realistic and both the preosecution and the defense were prepared and delivered their opening statements and witness questions elogantly. They didn't even look nervous! The room made added to make it seem like an actual court.

I did not know that the jurors would get questioned but it was plain to see that the attorneys had extensively gone over all of their juror sheets and had certain questions for certain jurors.

I'm excited to see how the rest of this trial goes!

I enjoyed our first day of trial. I was very happy that I did not get questioned as a juror!! I was surprised and how well the defense and prosecution had gone over our packets I thought they asked intelligent questions relevant to the trial.

I was also impressed with the questioning of the witnesses. I thought the defense attorney made her points very clear which as a jury member I appreciate. Overall I thought everyone played thier role well and it was enjoyable.

Although I'm technically not in this class - I do have to say that I was very impressed by how official the trial was (since we didn't do one last semester) and I also felt that everybody was well prepared and dressed nicely (besides the defendant ;) )

I, too, am looking forward to the rest of the trial - this could get really interesting!

The first day of court was a lot of fun. I'm glad the trials are finally here because I have been waiting the whole semester for this. I liked how the attorney's would ask questions that pointed something out such as "you made a lot of mistakes on the scene right" then the answer was something like "ahh well some mistakes" and that was all the the defense rested. It plants ideas into the jurors minds and the audience which sometimes may persuade a jury in some cases. The attorney's seemed very well prepared and it felt like a real trial. Good thing the judge showed up, I thought I would have to take his place. Its fun to be on the jury because I get to be so close to the action and involved. The court room was very cool, I had never been in that room and it really gave me a feeling of a real life court room.
Hopefully the jurors will be able to decide on the case today, thats what I really want to do. Hope today will be exciting as was the first day.

I thought the first day went well. I thought both sides presented their opening statements with great emotion and compassion. The only issue I had was I wish the defense team made it a bit clearer on exactly what the evidence was going to show, and what their strategy would be throughout trial. Also, I think both sides asked some really good questions, however, I wish some of those questions had a few more follow up questions. Specifically, the questions about eye wittness acounts and the errors made in the investigation. But overall I thought both sides did an awesome job.

I thought the first day of the trial went really well. Everything was very realistic and everyone presented their cases very believably. I was a lot more impressed by the defense because her confidence and research makes the case a lot more interesting, as she is more persuasive than I think we expected her to be with the case being so seemingly obvious. However, I think some of the questions and arguments asked to the eyewitnesses became a bit redundant, I would have liked to see some variation. Overall though I think it's going well and i'm interested to see the rest of the trial!

I thought the first day of trial went very smoothly and i was a bit surprised at how real it felt. The attourneys did a great job with their opening statements and making good arguments to the jury. I thought the prosecution did a good job of calling several different people to testify however i think that several more questions could have been asked to makes things a little bit more clear for the jury, i felt like it was a but choppy and confusing. Im anxious to see how the rest of the trial goes.

I thought the first day went very well. I think that everyone involved did a great job with all of their roles. I am really interested to see how our trial compares to one that I hopefully will be seeing over Christmas Break! I thought that both sides were very well prepared and I am excited to see how the rest of this whole trial turns out!

This whole processes is completely nerve racking! I honestly felt like i was going to pass out the entire time.. it doesn't help that i've been really sick lately but oh well. It s hard to say whats going to happen because you never really know how the jury will respond to what is said in court. overall this is a pretty interesting experience.. but it has shown me that a career in law is not in my future.. too stressful!

I thought day 1 went pretty well. I was a tad late to the hearing but, being the judge and all, the show can not go on until I appear. I suppose I added slightly to the tension that others felt, as I am a very physically and emotionally intimidating figure to be sitting at the head of the proceedings. I felt like I did a fairly decent job at my particular role, but I was also a tad shaky and needed some guidance throughout the proceedings as to what came next and whatnot. The first day gave me great insight into the uncertainties that a judge may face in each case, as there is no set way that every case will proceed. Decisions are made on the fly and there is a sense of umpiring to a great deal of it. Day 2 should be fun to see the defense present its case.

Day one was by far the most nerve-racking. I'm unsure if anyone noticed how much I was shaking durring opening statements. I am very greatful for Alyssa's help throughout the trial and it felt a little weird to have to regard people as adversary- in the role of the defense. I apologized to Collin afterwards, for cutting him off! Once I delivered my opening statement I felt my nerves calm a little. However cross examination was super hard! I had prepared myself with some questions but thinking up more based on the direct quesitoning was really hard.

I thought day one got off to a slow start. The jury selection seemed a little repetitive and dull but I guess it needs to happen (even though all the members of our jury were going to remain on the jury no matter what). I thought the lawyers did a great job with their opening statements and once the prosecution started calling their eye witnesses the trial got more interesting. I didn’t know what to expect when I was called to the stand but Alyssa printed us off an outline of what we should expect which was nice. It was intimidating being up on the stand especially when the defense started questioning me. It’s hard to be questioned by the opposing side; even though I wanted to expand on my answers, I didn’t feel like I could (which means that the defense did a good job I would assume). Overall, I enjoyed day one of the trial.

I thought the first day of trial was pretty interesting and exciting. Jury selection wasn't that exciting, but obviously it needs to happen. I thought both the prosecution and defense lawyers did a great job with their opening statements. I thought the prosecution's witnesses did a great job testifying up on the stand. I could tell that a few witnesses were a little nervous going up there in front of everyone, but all did a great job. The defense lawyer did a good job objecting as well! I was taken by surprise a little when the prosecutor Alyssa called me up to the stand becasue I wasn't planning on it at all. I was definitely nervous testifying in front of everyone, not that I had all that much to say. I was originally supposed to be her expert witness, but ended up being a trial consultant because she didn't need an expert witness.

For the first day, I thought it went pretty well. I helped set up before class and when I first saw the room, I was amazed! Such a cool place to have a mock trial. Anyway, the only thing I had a problem with was that I couldn't hear the jurors. It's not that big of a deal, but that made it pretty boring for the rest of us. Other than that, I thought it was fun. I got to move around and take pictures of everything, so that was a plus. KDTR also got the chance to talk to the prosecution and defense lawyers, which opened up some new information. Overall, it was successful and everyone did an awesome job! I was very impressed by the people who testified, they sounded very professional.

I thought Day 1 went very well once all the sound stuff got sorted out. I love the room we used, it was very cool to have court there. Opening statements were good but I was bored during the jury selection bit at the beginning. I know that doesn't happen in actual court during the trial but it didn't really seem to inform about actual proceedings for it. I had to testify as an eyewitness and basically just showed the picture I'd taken on my phone. I thought almost all of the testimony stuff went well and it was all really exciting to be a part of.

Well, I thought my comment on here went through earlier but apparently not. Gotta make sure it works, my computer doesn't seem to like me lately. All in all, Day 1 went smoothly. I didn't like the jury stuff at the beginning, it was odd, not typical to an actual trial, and a bit drawn out and boring. Opening statements were good though, that got things started right. It was exciting to be called up to testify as a witness. I had to show the picture I'd taken on my phone of the killer running away. Most of the other people called to testify did really well and I thought it was all really interesting. I've been waiting for this all semester, especially since witnessing the actual crime. I'm excited to see how the next two days of court play out.

So being a witness for the prosecution I came to think about the fact that while a trial is supposed to be fair I found myself trying very hard to make my testimony support the prosecution and to detract from the defense. Watching the attorneys maneuver to get the underhand and seeing how the jury reacted to each statement and testimony was actually rather exciting and I found myself discussing the proceedings with my partner detective at great length. I honestly hope the prosecution wins to make the work the police department did worth it.

I thought the first day of trial went really well. I was surprised how court-like the room was set up. The mood in the classroom is always so laid back and fun, but the second I walked into the court room it was a completely different mood. It seemed so formal and serious. I thought the trial was very interesting because being on the jury I knew basically nothing about the case. It was interesting to hear what had occurred and both sides of the story. After the first day I was fairly certain that I would want to convict Blake Burns of first degree murder.

The first day of trial went pretty smoothly. Even though the class has a laid back setting on a usual basis, in the courtroom it was a whole different setting. It was really formal and was more serious than usual. Being on the case i knew nothing about the trial so it was interesting to hear the facts for the very first time. After the first day i was uncertain of if id convict of 1st degree murder.

I thought the first day of the trial went really well. I liked how formal the court setting was and how laid back it was also. I liked the case because the jury knew nothing about it.

The first day of the trial went very well. Everyone played there parts so well that it felt like we were really in a court room setting. The prosecution and defense definitely did alot of work to prepare for today. After the first day was through i was uncertain of whether or not the defendant was guilty or innocent.

I found the first day of court to go very well. Being in the Reading Room in Seerley really made it seem like a real trail and the atmosphere was very court-like and serious. Everyone really seemed to fit into their roles and play right into them. Both the prosecutor and defense attorney had very convincing opening statements. As a member of the media I thought it was very helpful that the judge let us take pictures and record the trial. KDTR was able to interview the different attornies as well as some of the jury members. Overall I thought everyone was very professional and did a great job.

The first day of court was interesting and exciting. I was kind of upset though, because in the begging I found out that I wouldn't get to testify (I did figure they wouldn't need three eye witnesses to say the same thing, but it was still a let down.) However, I was also a little relieved because the other witnesses that did testify never got to practice what they were going to say, being on the stand was the first time they would ever be questioned. Both attorneys did a good job in their opening statements and questioning. The questioning wasn't all that interesting, but they did show a LOT of evidence that they had against him!

The first day was nerve wrecking, but Beth handeled it well. Especially since she was the one walking around. Our client was late but fortunately he did not miss it. Even though there were some questions ready to be given to the eyewitnesses and detectives we were still trying to write more questions down to see if we could get the upper hand.

The First Day was OK, I was only wondering if you was going to be a hard to understand type of professor but you are not so i think i am going to love being in your class this semester. I am so Looking Forward to doing the Mock Trial, this will be my second time working on one.
