The above article is about a man who was arrested on charges of raping a 13 year old girl and keeping her locked in his house for 6 months. The man plead not guilty and his neighbors, after being interviewed, claimed that they were confused by the accusation. A good friend of Abdallah  claimed that the 13 year old was very developed and told her that she was 17 or 18 and denied having sex with Abdallah. This good friend also said that the 13 year old was calling someone in her family to say that she was okay and that they knew where she was staying What confused me most about this story was how all of the neighbors thought of him to be a good man. Some of them also said they had never seen Abdallah with a 13 year old. It seems like there needs to be some investigating into this story. Another fact thrown in the mix was that the 13 year olds family filed a missing persons report months earlier. Maybe the good friend was in on the whole thing? It's a pretty shady case and I hope justice gets served correctly.

As I read this case I found myself thinking much of it was rather shady. From the article and those around the rapist it seems like the 13 year old may have run away and been living with this man because she wanted to be. It will be interesting to see what arises from the case.

But this case got me thinking of the debate of punishing child rapists with the death penalty. FOX news has a great article that talks about the death penalty toward people who are child rapists.

This link also addresses the fact that since 80 to 90 percent of child rape victims know their rapist or are related to them, the death penalty could then be more harmful toward the child victim. People criticizing this bill suggest that the death penalty would be more psychologically harmful toward the child then the rape itself.

"Even in some of the most heinous abuse cases, many think the damage done to a child’s psyche knowing he or she could be responsible for sentencing a relative to death is worse than letting their attackers live."

I agree with the post and the comments with this case. The fact that a 13 year old girl was taken away by this man named Abdallah who friends and neighbors said was pretty much an angel is kind of fishy. I guess the sentence in the article where it says he was keeping her in the home by having dead-bolt locks on the door and no door knobs. That right there should tell you he is guilty, just because someone in the neighbor hood said the man helped them across the street doesn't mean he's a saint. The girl probably said she didn't want to go home because she was afraid of being tortured or possibly killed. She is only 13, if she was 20 there might be more of a struggle. What they should do is check the girl physically to see if she was sexually active and if she was with this man for how long then it shouldn't be that hard to put two and two together.
