About Kim
She regularly teaches Introductory Psychology, Motivation and Emotion, Psychology and Law, Research Methods, and specialized seminars (see the Courses tab for specific classes).
She has won several awards including the Class of 1943 Excellence in Teaching Award, the UNI Book & Supply Outstanding Teaching Award for Probationary Faculty, and the Excellence in Service Award for the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. She was a 2010 recipient of the Regents' Award for Faculty Excellence.
Kim is the author of two textbooks Experimental Psychology: A Case Approach with Bob Solso, and Cognitive Psychology with Bob Solso and her husband Otto MacLin. Each are internationally recognized with Experimental having translations in Chinese, Korean and Russian, and Cognitive having translations in Chinese, Turkish, and Indonesian. She is currently working on a textbook on Psychology & Law. In addition, she has written 17 peer reviewed journal articles and has presented her work in over 175 conference presentations and invited talks. Kim also has mentored hundreds of undergraduate students and has chaired or served on over 40 MA thesis committees.
Lastly, Kim is co-founder, with Otto MacLin, of the Institute for Psychological Science, which provides consultation, research, testimony and training for attorneys and law enforcement regarding issues related to eyewitness memory and identification in order to promote the most effective use of psychological research in practice and in the court room.
