Wow!

That's the most awkward thing I've ever seen! I'm looking forward to talking about this tomorrow...I have no idea what to say.

I have a roommate who is obsessed with him so we have been watching everything very closely. In class, we should youtube him actually rapping... spoiler alert: he falls off the stage. It's magically embarrassing.

Here's the thing: we're pretty convinced it's a farce. He was very normal and then all of a sudden not normal at all. I would jump to some kind of serious disturbance or drug use, except that his brother-in-law Casey Affleck is doing a documentary about it. If Joaquin is in trouble, his family would be helping, not filming...

The kicker of it that I'd like to discuss in class tomorrow is that I think he's USING the media. Before this all happened, he made some comment about actors thinking that they're gods who can do anything just because they're in films. I think he's tricking us, intentionally manipulating the media coverage and revealing how easy it is to convince the world you're nuts. I can't wait for Casey's documentary - I hope to see them laughing at how much everyone is freaking out.

Wow Mollee thats a really good point. I remember him saying that. If that is the case, than Phoenix is doing a damn good job of using the media in all the unexpected ways to promote his movie and prove his point about actors. He's acting like the god and the media and all the people who are paying attention to this video are his little puppeteers. Very interesting

Wow ... that was SO strange! I didn't even realize until Letterman made a comment about Walk the Line that I was watching him interview the actor who played Johnny Cash. I'm looking forward to discussing this clip tomorrow!
